Legacy OpenGL don't use the global index buffer

The latest version of BuggyMod crashes instantly after starting the game (when the Mojang logo appears). Happens in all versions of minecraft and also after I removed all addons. Also switching from stable channel to snapshot doesnt't help.
WHY is it not possible to choose an older version in such a case?
